I sould be painting
I have been spaending a lot of time in my studio lately and its been great! I have gotten four 5x7 watercolors done as weel as three 4x6 watercolors, all with a similar motif. I am trying to produce a body of work for a summer festival in our town. I need to have a lot of paintings for it. And I need to get them done soon because I also have a play I will be costuming in the summer. I am hoping to produce about ten paintings from this project as well. These will be large figutive pieces that can be sold to help raise money for the local theater project.

These are the 4x6 pieces I did this week;

27th-Nov-2006 08:33 pm - Its been a long time
Its not that I have been too busy to blog, I just have a writers block when it comes to writing here. I do want to share what is going on and the art that I make, I just lack the discipline to do this. Perhaps I can find it within the discipline of painting. I do do art work everyday almost.
Today was lifedrawing for three hours, yesterday I worked on four 5x7
Oh my! we just had an earthquake! It really shook the house. So I called my mom who lives closer to the epicenter(I looked it up on the net)and she is fine, but a painting fell off the wall and the glass broke, so I will have to fix that. Good thing I am a framer.
OK, back to what I have been doing. Saturday I painting another four 5x7 watercolors and I finish them so I will share them now.

My goal is to start doing the painting a day plan and posting them here daily so you see I need to be more disciplined.
20th-Oct-2006 08:49 am - Trying to get things back to normal?
Open Studio Tour is now over for me and I am trying to recuperate. I caught a cold Sunday night. I At least didn't have to teach at the elementary school this week.
The tour was successful for me and for my friend who showed her bead work in my home alongside my paintings. The event was a lot of fun but exhausting, I think that is way I caught a cold.
I am all inspired to paint and make more books now. Which is good because I have another show coming up in a month. So I will close for now and go get to work.
13th-Oct-2006 10:28 am - Open Studios is here!
On October the 14th and 15th, I will be participating in the San Luis Obispo Open Studios Tour. Here is the official invitation.

My studio is located at 9129 San Diego Rd, Atascadero, California. A map is included above. I am sharing my studio space with fellow artist and jewler, Hallie McMasters. If you would like more information, please feel free to contact me by email. paulettesart@charter.net

1st-Oct-2006 09:13 pm - I should go to bed.
It is Sunday evening and both my kids are sick and tomorrow is a long day. I have all three of my jobs to go to. I had hoped to have some pictures of my very messy studio and yard but my photographer didn't get them to me. So I will show you two paintings I painted Saterday instead.

These are 5x7 watercolor with gold and black inks on arches 140# cold press paper. I will be framing them in black mat and black frame and the will look very good. I have others that are framed this way and I really like them. I now have less than two weeks til Open Studio and I am nowhere near ready. Starting Tuesday I will spend two hours every morning cleaning house and the yard and my studio til everything is done. But there was so much more that I wanted to make and now I am out of time. I have only ten new painting framed and very little else to sell. But you all need to come anyway because it will be a lot of fun and you can meet me and my family and some of my friends.
Well I should go to bed now. Good night.
19th-Sep-2006 05:05 pm(no subject)

Find me on MySpace and be my friend!

What have I done? I joined myspace. or should I call it in your face space ? No it will be fun. Not that I have a whole lot of time to do anything with it. But I need as much exposure as posible. I have no new art to post today, but my photographer did take photos of some of my latest figure paintings that I will be framing for "Open Studios". My "problem" with posting them here is they are nudes and I don't know how that will be received on live journal. They are figure studies and not porn, but still. I will post them in my photo bucket and on flickr. There hasn't been a problem there so far. I should be painting. HA HA I have two figure paintings that need finishing. I have all the frames and mat board and everything else I need to frame these I just need to finish the last two. I got the frame at Micheals during their 50% of sale which they offer every other week. It really is a good deal, especially fo r me because I can do everything except the frame. I think I am rambling. Too much wine? no, not enough. Anyway it is time to go fix dinner.
10th-Sep-2006 09:36 pm - Its Sunday Night
I'm thinking maybe I could do my journaling Sunday Nights for now on if I get on it right away.
I work at Micheals Arts and Crafts now for four weeks and I usually work Sundays. But I am home by 8:00 pm so I should have time to journal before going to bed. Mondays are busy because I get the kids off to school, set up for life drawing at 8:30 AM. Teach art class at an elementry school at 11:00 AM then work at Micheals in the afternoon. The teaching job will only last til the end of October though. What I would give to be a full-time artist and make a living of my artwork. Some day maybe. Right now I need to pay rent, Ha. Anyway,I have ordered five frames to frame some of my figure drawings for "Open Studio". This is an event put on by the San Luis Obispo Arts Councel as a fund raiser to promote the arts in our county. This year there are 228 artist participating.
I am opening my home and studio to whom ever buys the programs and maps. I also will be sharing my space with a friend and fellow artist who makes jewlery. So if any one who reads this and lives close by please come by and buy. Ha. The place to buy the tickets will be the Artery in Atascadero on Traffic Way. I will have figure drawings, hand made journals, art dolls, art work from the last twenty years. This is my painting that appears in the catalog.
6th-Sep-2006 08:44 am - So much to do and so little time
Blogging does not come easy for me. Especialy for the reason I started it in the first place, to share with the world the art I make. I do have a hard time tooting my own horn, selling my own art work, etc. But I need to get over that, right? Making time to update my blog on a regular bases is daunting. My excuse is that it eats into my artmaking time. I do all kinds of things that eat into my artmaking time anyway. Like going bake to work. I now have two part time jobs. I work at the local Micheals craft store 16 - 20 hours a week and I teach at an elementry school M-F one hour a day. So where I need to be the most creative is in my time management. I should have a set time to blog once a week I think that should do it. That way If I had the chanch to finish any art work during the week I can post it. And I can share what happens in my classes and at work, etc.

So, work. Working at Micheals'.... Its a lot like being at home. I help people find what they are looling for, clean up after them and put away the things they left behind. At least I'm being paid for it there. One of the most frustraighting things is seeing all the fun papers and stamps and paints, selling them or shelving them when I would rather be in my studio using them to make art.

I started the teaching yesterday. Tuesdays I have the fifth graders. We are doing self portraits using simblism, logos, etc. We started by having a friend draw the outline of our bodies on a big piece of paper, then fill in the background by drawing in where we are happiest. One boy wanted to draw his bed because he said he was happiest when he was asleep. That is very sad, I think. any way, I have forth grade today.

I got a few things done for swaps htis month, just under the wire, so to speek. These fabric pages were a real streach for me.

30th-Jul-2006 11:01 am - I did a little art today
After waiting months to get a set of decos, they came yesterday. I went down to my studio and decorated my pages in them. I had lots of time to plan them so they came together quickly.

My studio is overflowing with supplies, my husband thinks I'm nuts with all this "junk" but I use it all and if I didn't have it I would not be able to make half the things I do.
Well, I need to go back to the studio and make more art.
13th-Jul-2006 08:46 am - A new day
Well, I have calmed down from yesterday, and today is a new day. So I will be heading to my studio in awhile to make so art. I have set up a schedule for getting things done. I paint in the mornings on the studio patio until it is too hot outside to work. Then I go inside the studio to work on making books and artdolls or atcs, etc. Today I have artdolls and books going. I'm trying to make on book a day using Michael Jacobs' book Books Unbound using my plethora of materials. I find it very meditative, a good way for me to end my day. My friends on nervousness have asked me to explain some of these books, so I will try to do that now.

This first little book is 4and5/8 inches tall, 3 and 1/8 wide closed, 7 and 3/4 inches when opened. The text paper in a folded form. The sleeve is 2 and 1/8 made from cardstock and covered with decrative tissue and adorned with a brad.

This next book looks more complicated but its not really. the base is 5 and1/2 inches square and each booklet in the roughly the size of an atc. In fact I am brainstorming right now about using this book form to display atcs.
